Kevin Durant passes Allen Iverson for 25th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list

There’s a reason Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant is already on the NBA’s top-75 list.

With his first basket in Wednesday’s 123-104 win over the Boston Celtics, Durant passed a legend on the all-time scoring list.

That would be Philadelphia 76ers icon Allen Iverson, who scored 24,368 points over his 17-year career. Durant came into Wednesday’s game just a point behind Iverson.

It didn’t take long for Durant to hit the historic basket.

With the bucket, Durant moves to 25th on the all-time scoring list. Ray Allen sits in 24th place. He scored 24,505 points during his career, so Durant should rise up multiple spots on the list this season as long as he stays healthy.

Durant passed Iverson after 14 seasons in the NBA. At 33, Durant still looks like he has plenty of productive years ahead of him. Aside from a torn Achilles that caused Durant to miss the entire 2019-20 NBA season, he’s been durable over his career.

That injury threatened to derail his elite numbers, but Durant returned better than ever. Since his return from that injury, Durant is averaging 27.4 points per game, slightly higher than his career average. He finished Wednesday night with 21 points and eight assists while shooting 8-of-16 from the field.
